Styling The Summer Shirtdress

This spring/summer I have found myself investing in dresses and though I love a summer dress, in previous years I usually tend to opt for separates i.e skirts, shorts, blouses and/or tees. Dresses aren’t the most versatile of pieces and hence my hesitation when it comes to purchasing them. I still feel money is better invested on pieces that you can mix and match with but I also love the ease and effortless nature of slipping on a dress. These photos were taken at the very beginning of summer (it may have even been late spring) but nevertheless the outfit is still perfectly in keeping with these wonderfully warm temperatures we’ve been enjoying. Whilst I’ve already mentioned that I don’t find dresses the most versatile of items, what I like about the simplistic shirt dress is it’s smart/casual appeal. Whether it’s dressed up or down (shoe dependant) it will always leave you feeling put together without feeling restricted. I styled mine with these tanned slides from mango and a cream bucket bag. Perfect for a stroll around in the park with the little one.

Nova-Rose was loving collecting little twigs and leaves to throw in the water, though it’s a little terrifying because there is no barrier to stop her from falling, so we have to stay extra vigilant but that comes naturally when you’re a parent to a two year old! Fun fact about this day the whole time we sat on the edge of the river, throwing pieces of grass in, Conan and I had unknowingly and repeatedly been sitting in duck poop! Ah gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

Sending you love and light,

Daniella xx
