On February 2nd our little angel turned one and this past weekend we celebrated by throwing her a small birthday party with close friends and family. I admit I loved the opportunity to get creative with her 1st birthday and whilst it may not have been a stereotypical 1st birthday theme, i was nevertheless very happy with how it turned out. I love working with natural decor when I’m decorating for any kind of festivities and this time I used a lot of eucalyptus and dried flowers to create that delicate, rustic and natural feel. I tried to make a few of the decorations myself or at least half make them because it gives me the opportunity to get creative and have a bit of fun in the process.
It’s a little hard knowing what to do because she’s a little too young to understand party games, so having some family over, putting on a small spread and lighting a candle to sing happy birthday was just enough to mark her special day. The day itself was almost called off because on the eve of her party I went to bed really quite sick and I woke up in the morning not feeling any better. I considered cancelling but I thought to myself if I can get through ten hours of labour and push a baby out at the end of it, then I could take some paracetamol and paint a smile on my face and make the memories that I know will hopefully last a lifetime. So I did just that and though I was exhausted at the end of it, I was glad I went through with it. I know she won’t remember the day but the photos will show her, whilst we tell her the stories of her very first birthday.
Sending you love and light,
