I am sure I have mentioned it on here before and in how the last couple of years I’ve incorporated positive affirmations into my daily routine. So today I thought I’d share some of my own as well as some I’ve discovered through Pinterest.
Maybe you think that it’s all a load of rubbish and you’re entitled to think and believe that in the same way I am entitled to belive that there’s something in positive affirmations. Like I said, I know this kind of thing isn’t for everyone but because I’m making a conscious effort to be more confident in expressing who I am aside from my outfits and passion for style/fashion, I feel it’s important to share this with you today to continue on that path.
When you think about it many of us have been telling ourselves positive affirmations in times we may not have been conscious or aware that we are doing so. Think about when we’ve been having a rough day, maybe even had a little cry, in our minds we might think or tell ourselves something like “ we’re going to get through this” “or tomorrow’s another day”. Sound familiar? And so often, we do indeed get through it. Making positive affirmations a part of your daily routine is kind of just an extension of what some of us already do.
One of the reasons I started this practise wasn’t necessarily because I believed this was going to be the solution to all my problems, no. But for years I’ve been someone who overthinks and worries constantly about everything. It was ruining my day to day existence and even when something was going well, I’d be worried about what was going to happen to take this happiness away or anticipating the next possible problem. If you are or were a big worrier too, then you know problematic this worrisome way of thinking can be on ones life. I didn’t want to keep living like that and I knew it was up to me to change the process. I’m not completely healed from this and I don’t know if I ever will be. Maybe it’s a part of my natural makeup but I can say with confidence that I am mentally in a much better place now with how much I worry then I was two years ago. This triumph is due to a few reasons but I belive one of the big reasons is positive affirmations.
The trick is to try and re-wire the way the thought processes works. So every time I have a worrisome thought, I acknowledge it but then I turn that thought into either a prayer or a positive affirmation instead of getting sucked into the vortex of worry. It brings a new focus to the mind. I can’t stop a random thought of worry popping into my head but I can change the outcome of that thought and stop it from developing into ten other unnecessary thoughts of worries. And something that I have noticed over time, is that overall I worry less and less.
It takes time, patience, belief and dedication to turn this kind of thinking around. I do belive that if the law of attraction is correct and what we think and what we say, we attract, then I’d rather be thinking and saying things of love, abundance and positivity. But that’s just me.
For me I didn’t know where to start for positive affirmations and I found that by starting with saying ones that I discovered in books or online (Pinterest is amazing for finding them) was a great help. And in time, I started saying ones that were more suited to my personal needs. So that’s why I’m sharing some today, in case anyone reading this doesn’t know where to start.
If you are considering bringing this positive practice into your path of healing, then I do hope that this post and these affirmations may be of help to you. Because that’s all I sincerely want to do, help. For me, a big part of healing from all the things that have been challenging in my life, is knowing that I can hopefully use those experiences to grow and help others to heal and grow too. Turn something that was negative for me into something of positive substance.
Sending you you love and light,
