I am excited to share these outfit photos with you today as it includes my treasured kilt skirt that I bought via Margaret Howell a few years back. It’s a piece that I simply adore but don’t necessarily wear all that often. The skirt in my opinion is a true statement piece, whilst also being a wardrobe classic, that I believe will never date! From time to time it will be back “on trend” but that’s irrelevant to me.
Since the beginning of January I have had a craving to get this beauty out again and style it. I do find it a little bit of a challenge when styling it and that is probably why it only comes out every now and again. It was cold that day and so I reached for my cable-knit sweater and once more, this black duffle coat. I was concerned it was beginning to look too much like a private school girl but yet at the same time, I actually quite liked that it looked like this. I knew it needed some edging up and so with the help of my go-t0 flat black ankle boots, a chain necklace, the right make up ( I thought a dark lip colour would do the job) and some twisted hair that gives off a kinda dreadlocks look I was happy with the outcome.
The final result was like a grungy take on wardrobe classics and I loved it. My sister was an absolute doll for standing out in the cold that day to take these shots. As you can see I avoided tights, I just don’t think they would have been at all right and so if you look closely at the photos you’ll see I opted for leggings instead. It did the job and I have to say, I rely on leggings a lot during the winter months, they go underneath a good majority of the clothes that I wear.
Take care and enjoy the rest of your Friday and can you believe this is now the last weekend in January?! Where did the month go.
