I don’t actually believe in rules when it comes to personal style or any kind of personal creativity for that matter! It’s restricting yourself and for the sake of what? What others might think or say about you?! People judge no matter what, so I might as well wear exactly what I want to wear. Instead of style rules, I like to think of them as style guidelines as guidelines are not restrictive and you don’t have to follow them directly. So like with me and my guidelines on wearing and styling cropped top is to usually wear them with bottoms that sit high on the waist in order to show off just a hint of skin above the belly button. This way it’s not so “obvious” and in my opinion, look a lot more chic, basically not so Britney Spears 2003! But for the outfit that I am sharing with you today, you could say I went a little off course and took a different route all together and below i’ll tell you why.
I styled my camisole, which isn’t majorly cropped but not exactly longline either and I teamed it with these very old 7 for all Man Kind denim shorts that I DIY’d (that’s not a word but i’m going with it) years ago. Funnily enough I mentioned 2003 because these jeans were bought for me around that time, maybe a year or two later. You can tell this because of low cut they are, do you remember when it was all about how low you could wear your jeans? Personally wearing a cropped top with low rise denim is something I would highly recommend going against but I think sometimes it’s okay to “break the rules”. To keep this outfit from going down trashy lane, I wore my black lace up ankle boots for an edgier approach, chose my pink trench coat and Prada tote bag for classic and (hopefully) a more elegant twist. I was happy with the result and I know this look isn’t for everyone but if you do like it, then that’s even better.
