Let me give you a little idea on how my sleepwear/nightwear looks like. It usually consists of some old plaid pyjama trousers, the kind that go really soft after a night of sleeping in them. A t-shirt (preferably a loose one) and a sweater or hoodie of some kind and that’s me set. I feel kind of sorry for my boyfriend, not exactly the sexiest image! Oh well, he’s got an imagination, so he’ll just have to use it. Anyway my dream is to one day have a sleepwear wardrobe that’s just as attractive as my day wardrobe! I’m talking silk pyjama sets, long and short nightdresses in the most luxurious fabrics. Camisole tops with matching shorts, cute playsuits that look all vintage-y and beautiful long flowing silk dressing gowns. Basically the nightwear section on Net a Porter.com! Yes, that is the dream, well almost. I also need fresh white sheets that get changed every couple of days and to fall asleep surrounded by the scents of Jo Malone and The White company Candles. Now that is the dream!
The problem is every time I acquire a good item of sleepwear I end up wanting to wear it during the day and before I know it, the item never gets to meet my bed sheets! I’ve got a beautiful silk nightdress from The White Company, a vintage paisley dressing gown and then this sleep shirt that i’m wearing in todays post. It’s a joke really but I cant help it. I’m addicted to taking something conventional and wearing it in a way that might be considered a little more unconventional. Plus who doesn’t want to feel the undeniable comfiness that is sleepwear during the day?!
I have had this Sleep shirt for a year and half now and it’s still one of my favourite pieces to style and wear. Here is The Sleep Shirt site if you would like to check it out.
