Its that time of the year where, digging out the old trench coat is almost a right of passage to achieving Spring Style. I don’t own the more classic version of the iconic trench coat but this military green, minimal version does me well. I’ve had for a few years now and I cant help but be reminded of my first ever trip to Paris Fashion week, whenever I pull out this coat. It was for the Autumn/winter collections and I think it was in the month of February and I travelled there with my boyfriend and Joyce from Just Like Sushi. I had just bought this coat for the upcoming Spring and wanted to take with me for a look I had planned on wearing. I had not anticipated just how f**king cold it would be there. I mean I don’t think I had been that cold EVER! And there I was wearing this very light trench coat because you know, it was Paris Fashion Week and I wanted to look “cool” in my new trench and for my street style to be on point. It worked, I was photographed by some of the best Street style photographers that day and needless to say the look was a hit. But it wasn’t long before I had to give in and find another coat to wear.
So now I only ever wear it if the temperatures are right or alternatively, layer it up. For this look I took a relatively classic approach and wore it with my blue cashmere knit (last worn here) and my old DVF navy flared trousers. I wore my metallic gold shoes with a pair of mustard/gold socks for a subtle retro twist and fished off with my trusty snake print bag.
Well, thanks to the long weekend we had last week, this weekend has come around rather quickly. Which needles to say i’m rather happy about.
