Inner strength is something that we all have. Some are more aware of their inner strength and some don’t realise just how strong they are yet. We all have different ideas and beliefs on what it is to be strong and we all have our ways of dealing with things. Inner strength is something I have had to tap in to unfortunately and fortunately many of times. Unfortunately because those times have been upsetting and I say fortunately because the feelings of upset and sadness soon passed and eventually turned into strength.

Here is is what I see to be strength:

Inner strength is a quality that is far stronger and more capable then we could ever at first imagine. It gets us through the hard times and helps us to persist so we can achieve are hopes and dreams. Strength isn’t determined by us holding back and cutting off from our emotions, it’s about acknowledging them. Happy or sad, it’s having that moment with our emotions even when they might indeed overwhelm. But then once that moment has passed we get it together and move on with our day in the best way we know.

Inner strength is remaining graceful and polite to others when times are challenging and not walking around like the world is against you because regardless of how it may feel, the world is not against you! Strength is finding reasons to be grateful when it feels like there is nothing to be grateful for.

Strength is admitting when you feel weak.

Strength is admitting you are wrong sometimes.

Strength is also standing up and saying you’re right.

Strength is not taking no for an answer. Strength is knowing that sometimes no, is the answer. Strength is finding the alternative and quite often the unlikely route.

Strength is recognising your flaws. Strength is more then simply recognising flaws, it’s working on them.

Strength is not holding a grudge, strength is forgiveness. Strength is forgiving but knowing when to say enough is enough.

Strength is digging deep in to what has already hurt you and taking courage from the fact that if you can get through that, you can get through the anything.

The inner strength we posses, is something that truly fascinates me and that’s why I wanted to write about it today. You never know when you might need to call upon it.

Take care,
